L-Carnitine Capsules

L-carnitine is an amino acid derivative that occurs naturally in the body. It plays an important role in muscle metabolism and is involved in the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria – the “power plants” of the cells, where energy is generated. The name derives from the Latin “carnis” (meat), as L-carnitine was first isolated from meat.

L-carnitine is found mainly in animal-based foods – especially in beef and lamb. In plant-based foods, it occurs only in very small amounts. If you eat little red meat – for example vegans, vegetarians or health-conscious eaters – our capsules offer an easy way to secure your intake.

A deliberate L-carnitine intake is particularly interesting for athletes, vegans and vegetarians, older people and those under high physical strain. While the body can produce L-carnitine itself, during phases of intense exertion an additional intake can be a sensible supplement. Pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as smokers also often have increased needs.

You will find the recommended intake on the tub. L-carnitine is often taken before physical activity – around 30–60 minutes before training. On rest days, taking it in the morning or with a meal is common. What matters is regular daily intake over several weeks for an optimal supply.
